Subject: Vibrating Poseidon Odin/Jetstream

My understanding of the situation is that the problems started
when Poseidon changed supplier and/or material of the silicone "bladder"
The new material had the right elasticity/stiffness but the damping
was changed. This caused some units oscilate under certan conditions.
If you look at the second stage as a closed contol loop then any one
with experience in contol systems understands that reduced damping
in the loop might cause oscilations if the amplification stays the same.

The diffrent bladder generations may or may not be colour coded. The
current one is suposed to have fixed the problem. I bought my jetstream
six years ago. It was fitted with the old bladderfitting made out of brass.
A few years later a new bladder with plastic fitting was introduced. I now
have bladders of this type. Due to an extended service interval I have
managed to avoid this problem. (this was unintentional)

On the original subject re: Ice in mouth.
My Jetstream sometimes throw ice in my mouth when the water is really
cold (<4 =B0C). My guess is that the water is from the expiered air. The ic=
e
forms on the "rocket" (the part around the bladder) and is shot in to=20
your mouth whit your next breath. The second stage wont freeze until you ge=
t
ice on the servo valve. This risk is small when the servo valve is heated
to some extent by the expiered air. I have been thinking about putting
a heatsink around the servo valve. An ordinary clip-on type for small
transistors might work. I have not done this, and I will wait until I=20
hear about more freezing second stages.

A final warning: dont mess with your reg if dont feel that you are up to it=
.
