I am also interested in this issue of dive hydration, in particular post dive hydration. Over the past number of years I have noticed a trend on sports divers that do a double/triple dive day here in the UK. For simplicity I will deal with a double dive day. The trend is the ability to dive on the second dive. First let me set typical conditions... Breathing media on both dives Air. 1 Dive one less than 50m ( approx 166feet) duration approx 20min . Max deco approx 25mins. Surface duration > 240 mins 2 Dive 2 less than 35m (approx 120feet) duration approx 25min Max deco approx 20min It is common for all divers to drink alot of water before the first and second dive of the day, starting to drink about 60-90min before the dive, generally when they get on the boat to get to the site. Nearly all drink water... However those that drink post first dive about 1 pint (500ml) of water slowly post 1st dive appear to be in better spirits for the second dive (asuming that they drink pre second dive), also (althought I have little empirical measurements other than personal observaton) they appear to me less succeptable to dive induced illness. Is the answer just the amount of water... to me this is to simple, or is there an answer in the timeing... Opinions on this please.
