If you're mixing yourself or are present when it's done, you can always calculate the amount of helium in your tanks based on psi if you add the He first or by doing an O2 analysis after you add the oxygen and He but before air topping. The Helium sensor is useful if 1) you want to figure out what's in an unlabeled set of tanks (better off dumping and remixing) or 2) your gas mixer is incompetent. Hmmm...maybe it is a good thing....
