What does WKPP do? We plug them with 1/16" shim material. We generally fill the tanks to about 3300 . We also throw them away when they get old. Also, most of us have several sets, so no one set gets to much cycling, which is what kills the tank. One big problem with steel tanks is that they will pas hydro pretty much no matter what since they tend to stretch and stay that way, so then do not show the overstretch and failure to return in the hyrostatic test. Better to leave tanks full all the time than cycle them. In WKPP, our rules are specific as to gas manmgement - we are the worlds biggest weenies - we usually do not even touch the backgas, so many of us go months without refilling cave gas doubles. I have sets marked 1997 still in the que. For anyone else who is just doubles diving, I would suggest buying new tanks and pitching them rather than hydroing them if you are diving constantly. For aluminum tanks, I would definitely give them the boot every few years. These things at $100 per are not barely even worth VIPing a second time in my opinion. I have already had a few of these go of on me in the fill bin , but luckily they did not come apart. One came apart on me and JJ in the habitat. Jbdvr@ao*.co* wrote: > > Yet another question.
