When I see someone bandying about "cave nazis" and similar terms,
it doesn't particularly offend me.  It does, however, rapidly lead
me toward the conclusion that the individual uttering such things is 
a hopeless moron on any of several points.  Just as bondage wings
and butt-mounted lights will help us recognize a stroke in person,
feeble nazi metaphors are the calling card of strokes on the Net.

If you honestly think that any of the words and ideas flowing through 
these lists compares to the atrocities committed by the nazi party, get 
yourself to a damn library and wise up.  If you think that using the 
term nazi metaphorically somehow helps you convey your dislike for 
someone or some mode of communication, take a creative writing class.
You're revealing yourselves to be simpletons, unable to think and 
communicate clearly, and unable or unwilling to learn history's harsh 
lessons.  On this list, the history of greatest import is the ongoing 
parade of needless fatalities in our favorite hobby.  Learn from that.

Those who promote standardization, and who refuse to participate in 
demonstrably inferior diving methods, are as far from "mindlessness" 
and "following blindly" as it is possible to be.  The desperation of 
those who oppose such advancement is at the heart of these inane 
comparisons and trite rhetoric.

Ask a DIR diver why they do what they do, and most will offer a 
cogent answer.  It's no coincidence.
