Amen to that, I lived and dove in Japan for three years and the amount of stuff I saw and said "Holy Shit, your doing that and still alive!" was numerous. Japanese dive shops are an interesting place, I think dive gear only came in fluorescent pink and green then! Budweiser is a standard surface interval refreshment, and 120 fpm ascent rates seem to have been the norm!
