Halcyon has no cylinders of its own. There is a frame that goes with
it that holds whatever tanks you want. You can use whatever gas you want
through a gas block that you plug the tanks into. Most rebreathers have
thee as well, I know the Cis Lunar has one. The reason we use the
Halcyon for long cave dives is that it is mechanical , not electronic,
and all we really have to do is listen to it breathe to know it is
working. If it fails, you either can not breathe, or it will not add
gas. In that case we have the side tanks and we put safety bottles every
1000 feet or so. Otheriwse these devices keep yo warmer due to not
blowing off the body heat thourgh your discharged gas like open circuit,
and they allow more gas milage and efficiency, like being able to dive
over the same safeties over and over without setup dives.

The real trick to rebreather divin in the WKPP is that the guys who do
it can also do the same dives on open circuit, and have done so for the
most part, otherwise it is self-deception to do so - to get out of a bad
deal with us, you have to be not only able to make o/c gas go the
distance, which we are the masters of, but you also have to stay warm
and happy and not get bent, which we are also the survivors of, adn then
not tox on the long cold deco, which is key.

RB is a roll the dice choice for roll the dice dives. If anyone tells
you any different, they are unbaware of reality. IN WKPP there are four
kinds of dives: 1) setup, 2) cleanup, 3) roll the dice, and 4) Kamikaze.
Personally, I like to stay someplace between the wall and the wallpaper
on this one.
