I work with several Doctors including a cardiologist and have been
discussing  the recent threads concerning the PFO test with them. They
all seem to feel that while it is still a largely unexplored risk  it is
a risk none the less.  Due to this I was able to get the cardiologist
to call my HMO and request a test based on his perception of "Medical
Necessity".  To my surprise they agreed with no resistance.  I had the
test performed this morning at a local hospital (they had to inject
contrast material) instead of  the doctors office and the HMO again gave
no resistance.  If you can get this test done for free, or close to it,
I can't see why anyone wouldn't.
