Hi Steve Since my original post , I felt the need to know the truth myself , I called John Moyer.I do not need to talk to Gary has he has his version in the book.I would have called Billy Deans , but don't know him personally.I knew you would handle anything on your end as you have already done. I talked to John for some time and this is what he told me. John said that to the best he could remember it was over the trail line or something , but was not sure , he had already spoken to Billy Deans the night before as they were talking about the post and ME as Billy had already heard about the post and wanted to know something about me.John had told him(Billy) that I had not been attacking him and that he would send him a copy of the post if Billy wanted it to see for himself as someone had added things to it when they told him , John also told him he would enjoy diving with me if he got the chance , since they were good friends Billy dropped it at that.As to how much of the Wahoo thing they went over I don't know. To the point , John has said I may quote him on this if it ever came up, as he will not post himself , he is a lurker. To him the main point to the story is true , meaning its does not matter if it was the trail line , chase boat , or any other function of the boat.Since you already have posted it on your web site I feel it is Ok to post it now. The fact that Janet said she did not care if the Italians died as long as it happen when they're off her boat , they're on their own, is the point.John Moyer said that it happen and was true. At that point we both agreed the best thing would be to just let it go away , as things on techdiver have a week or two of life and fade away. I had no plan to ever bring it up again , on the boat last Sunday a diver ask me why my name was on the wahoo web site , I did not know about it , so I looked and there is this covering it all.I still would not have said anything but , I got an email from JIM Cobb that I thought was private and replied to it asking him if he had seen it , VBtech has no approve to be done so it went to all and I could not stop it.He in turn loves to get things going and answered only on VBtech it is a small list sever but you are on it. But now you have put it on techdiver which goes to alot , which I will answer. I always feel when I come out here I am armed with the truth , sometimes I may be misinformed and will correct these things if I can. This is one reason I am able to put up with Georges crap. As for Gary , I know Gary , have dived with Gary , what do I think of Gary , thats my opinion and I will keep it to myself. I will say this , as I have tried to write stories for my web site to help others not make the same mistakes as I have seen , lessons are learned from those that have done it, seen it , still do it.I get permission from the divers I write about and yes they all do not think what I see is what really happen , some of my stories do not make print as these people I consider my friends and they do not wish to be written about good or bad.I have been called an asshole by my own friends before and we are still friends. They just do not wish to be in the light and so I spare them the pen if they ask. No two people will ever see the same thing when it comes to details in a story , thats really true if it is something nasty or cast a bad shadow on them. But to let you know the score here , out of the 4 people that heard this , 2 said it happen , Janet says it didn't , the only one not to have said anything is Billy Deans.I do not think he will come out to answer this. Let it go Steve ! Gary out right lied in his books, but in the writing field its called Artistic Historical writing I have been calling all the people involved to get everyone version of what they remembered, so when I publish it on my site it will be what happened not Gary artistic version. The consenses from everyone that has crewed with Gary is, he's lazy and spent most of his time in his bunk. Gary even wrote in his book his friend Jon Hulbert said Gary stories are different from what happened. I have a copy of the letters that Gary and George Hoffman wrote back in the 70's that started Gary problem with George, I will publish them as I get the time. Did Gary ever write how after giving George Hoffman a chamber pot from the Oregon as a gift he showed up at George house while George was away and asked George wife to return the chamber pot to him. because he and George were no longer friends? Have you ever asked Gary for his "C" card? Gary thinks he above being asked to show his card. Back 1986 at the Oregon's 100 Anniversary dive I asked for his "C" card, when I did the sign in and Gary became very indignant and said" nobody else ever asked the see my card" it seem that even my other crew had never asked to see his card, Gary being so impressed with himself didn't want to show his basic card. he was embarrassed in front of Tom Packer, Steve Gatto and the other divers, he later told me being asked to show his "C" card. For some reason you think Gary is more than just another diver, he's not just a little lazier and and tell a lie with more interest.
