David, I said "wait" not "wait and do nothing." I would hope someone trained in rescue techniques would do whatever they can to save me if I were drowning, while waiting for professional assistance. And that includes purg- ing with an O2 regulator if there is a chance it will help. It is better to have tried and failed (to save a life) than to have never even tried. As for those who really would do nothing, I can't blame them for not wanting to get involved given today's legal cli- mate (and yes MHK, it is pathetic). To reiterate: 1) act in good faith, 2) do not violate the victim's known wishes, 3) practice within your community standard.
