I agree that if your only concern is the lawyers there is a problem with your reaction in an emergency. But that hasn't been the only argument given against it. The procedure does have the capability to do great harm as well as great good. I personaly would prefer to use the more standard rescue procedures and have the victim die despite my efforts than use a procedure where they could die because of my efforts. For me it's an ethical consideration, not a legal one. It's like if someone is choking, I'll use the Heimlich and not a tracheometry. It may not be as effective, but it's what I'm competent to do. Or what about an appedicitis? Just because I know where the appendix is and how do use a knife, don't ever expext me to do more than drive like a wildman to the hospital with the afflicted person. As for who to dive with: dive with people who will only have each others best interests at heart and will act immediately (without fear of reprisal) towards those interests in the case of an emergency.
