If you can describe one of these 'other system(s)', I 
will absolutely tolerate it.

But what you will find is that apart from DIR, there 
aren't any 'other system(s)'. There are only motley 
assemblages of various equipment that differ day to day,
dive to dive, person to person and show no evidence of
systematised thinking whatsoever.

I do respect your ability to conduct an entire dive 
with nine items of gear attached to your high pressure 
hose and the whole package balanced in the crack of your 
ass though. But tell me, if you rotate, or hang vertically, 
or do anything but stay in a prone position throughout the
entire dive, don't you have to clench hard enough to crack 
walnuts to keep the package in place?
