Subject: Re: DIR
Dear Michael,

A more appropriate term would be AIR (Axiomatic Idealists Ranting).
It's hard to find someone who has tried DIR and come back saying
it's not better than what they previously had. When you try it, it's like a
blindfold has been removed from your eyes, and it makes you want
to say "hey, this is so obviously right, how could I be so stupid to
dive any other way?" That's how it is Axiomatic. And it pretty much
explains the Idealist part. Since I've been converted (and I use this
word on purpose) I've developed an almost religious fervor for it.
You might too, if you'd only try it. It makes diving easier, safer and
more fun. About the Ranting, whenever you see someone so stubborn
that they will knock DIR without even trying it, you want to scream
"don't be an idiot, try this, it may save your life, you pig-headed moron!"

DIR has a zero tolerance policy for any other system? A system
doesn't care what you use. Only people can have a policy, including
the guys who developed DIR. So what? You don't have to like George
or anyone else in order to dive DIR.

Dive safe,
Carlos

DIR stands for Doing It Right? I'm relatively new to
the list too Carla, and am beginning to think that it
really stands for Dogmatic Idealists Ranting. Just
watch the flames now...actually there is a lot to be
learned on this list, but as Scott says it can get
pretty hot. DIR has a zero tolerance policy for any
other system(s).
