Art, There's an account in Bret Gilliam's "Deep Diving" (deep air, that is) book. Read the story and then throw the book away. BTW, you may notice that most of the part of the book that's about Sheck is ripped off from "Caverns Measureless to Man". Hi All, Just finished reading Sheck's book, "Caverns Measureless to Man". All in all a really good read and gives a good account as far as I can tell as a non cave diver of the beginnings of cave diving. It's really scary reading all that stuff! No disrespect but the stuff he was doing was really nuts! It should not be viewed as a book to be read for what to do when cave diving. In many respects it's a book that should be read on what NOT to do. Anyway, it mentions that he died while trying to break a world record (deep helium, open scuba I assume). Does anyone have a link to an account of his death? I've heard many stories about what happened but not seen anything in writing. Anyone got a link to a factual report?
