>According to the news this morning, the wreckage of Egyptian Air is at >275ft, >meaning only two divers can go for 20 miuntes a day. What is wrong with >this >picture? I saw 2 different news reports that had diving experts. One was a PADI MSDT from Massachusetts and the other was the captain of the Seeker. The latest Navy manual allows up to 30 minutes at 270' on surface supplied heliox 14/86 with 152 minutes of deco (switch to 40/60 at 100 ft and O2 at 50 ft). The majority of the deco is done at 40 ft in a chamber on O2. Longer bottom exposures are permitted in extreme circumstances ("extreme exposure"). Saturation diving is possible but requires extensive support personnel and equipment. The manual calls for a constant flow helmet for depths up to 300 ft and a helmet with a demand regulator for dives deeper than 300 ft or saturation dives. Maybe someone who really knows will tell us how they'll do this. The "experts' said that saturation was the only way. al ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
