Dispensing advice that will often kill? Hmmm.... Now, I wonder:
How many guys are still shitting in diapers after being bent on WKPP
dives? Just curious. Plus, If Geo and Co want to 'spread the word'
they would be well advised to be polite about it. Nobody pays much
attention to a profane whacko yelling on a streetcorner.

Dave,
It sounds like your so upset with George, that you can't follow a
discussion related to him without taking tangents to further your own
"agenda". I'll get to the "agenda" later.

There have been too many real DEATHS which Tom Mount could have prevented,
with the good advice George gave him in a "nice" manner. This same advice
was then given again in the tone you would use for a drunk who has just
driven over his third child and killed him, and you don't want him killing
any more kids, and you sure as hell don't want him killing any you know.

Tank Marking stupidities, moronic advice like "you can never have too much
gas", no standards as to matching exposure suit--tank choice--wing
system--and weighting ( in other words, letting IANTD students buy and wear
gear which would be likely to cause a catastrophic accident ), insufficient
Instructor screening, and the list goes on and on; all of these issues were
dealt with by George, as far as I can tell, all were ignored by Tom.

George on the other hand, has always enforced a good idea as soon as he knew
it was a good idea. Tom could be bitten in the ass by a good idea and still
pretend it did not exist, if he thought it would cost him money or ego.

Has George "bent" people?
WKPP divers that I know will occasionally get a quickly resolving hit, the
type of hit you typically fix yourself by going back down for another 20
minutes to an hour on pure O2 ( with breaks). George did not "bend" them
though, they bent themselves. The more fit the diver, and the closer they
follow the WKPP tables, the less likely the hit. I've been diving with
George on tek stuff since 1989 and have NEVER had so much as a "tinge"
following his deco schedules. I believe as George does, that "serious"
cardiovascular training needs to be integral with tek diving.
And the issue is DEATH, not minor aches or pains that many people feel are
an accepted trade off for the enjoyment they get from Tek exploration. A
300 foot deep dive is after all, a seriously traumatic physical assault on
your body, even if you are a "real athlete". If you are not, your
expectations need to be of considerably more aspirin or Tylenol than George
would feel the need to use <g>.
Dave, you can't mix up DEATHS and no deaths. You need to separate someone
who makes zero money from the dive industry, from someone who profits from
the mediocrity of high volume and the moral bankruptcy of greed.

It's not the message I object to, it's the manner. A well reasoned,
polite, and quiet arguement will always prevail over a loud, profane,
and uncivilized one, even should the profane one be more correct.

Dave,
People we know were killed. If someone killed a friend of yours, and you had
warned the killer ahead of time NOT to do the thing that killed your
friend----would you be polite and quiet??? Would you be polite to the
buddies of the person who killed your friend, when they tell you how great
the killer is? If you answer yes to either of these, then I no longer
believe you would have what it takes to be a fighter pilot, or even a man
worthy of respect. The way I see it, the killer ( and in this case, a killer
who legally got away with it), deserves your anger, your raised voice, and
your raised hand. And he deserves a lot more, NONE of it "nice".
