JT - your usual misunderstanding and bullshitization of the story. Deans and the dead guy were diving AIR. The dead guy boogied on Deans as soon as the deep air kicked in, and plummeted down the Gimbel's Hole crack or whatever you strokes call it, unable to stop himself as he was severely overweighted. He grabbed the huge tangle of wiring harness to try and stop himself and merely pulled it into a giant pile down on top of himslef. It took several dives with cable cutters to extracts his dead stupid ass from the wreckage. Bill Deans is not a dumb ass like most divers. He stopped air diving and in fact was the first guy I know of who set up and taught helium diving way back then. He used to issue the "Billy Deans" trimix card, and I know some people here in Florida who got one ten years ago. He also uses every bad example like this one to teach people not to do the stupid things that are practiced in N.E. wreck diving. Deans runs the absolute best operation I ever dove with other than my own. PERIOD. What you are confusing is when Mount claims Billy Deans endorses some nonsense that IANTD does. As far as I know, Deans is either out of IANTD or trying to get out. Deans is one of the few people I will dive with no questions asked. He is a seriously good diver, a top notch buddy in the water, a logistical master, and as safe as it gets, not to mention a riot to hang around with, and has probably printed out your email and is pissing on it as we speak.
