I have an urgent request for DCS incident reports, and or contacts, to help a diving friend. She recently suffered a type II spinal bend and has been told not to dive again. This came from two independent experts; a naval officer from Rosyth Naval Base and the medical adviser to SSAC, and based on that SSAC have revoked her fitness to dive certification. Her husband is about to sell off all of her diving gear and she was all set to never dive again until I had a chat with her last night. She is obviously bitterly disappointed and would love to get back to diving, even if it meant restricting her depth to shallower than 10m. The problem is she doesn't know what the risk really is because all of her advisers up until now simply say "don't dive again". I offered to try and get as many reports as possible through this medium. So what I would like is: Reports on any DCS incidents, especially type II (and more especially spinal). I would prefer it if these were either personal accounts or related to you first hand by the sufferer. However, any other accounts are most welcome, but make it clear how you came by the account. I leave it up to you whether to post it here or send it direct. I would also be most grateful if someone would post the US DAN address so that I can pass it on to the person concerned.
