I tried thin surgical tubing, thick surgical tubing, thin bungie, and thick bungie, and like the thin bungie best. Melt the nylon sheath with a lighter, and it won't unravel. - the thick bungie and surgical tubing each required "too much" force to stretch, and it was tough to knot the ends. - the surface of the thin surgical tubing is sortof "sticky", and when I'd stretch it over my head it would catch my hair or the back of my hood and roll. This was annoying, though obvously inconsequential to the dive. - thin bungie is sturdier -- it takes a bit more force to stretch it than the thin surgical tubing. it seems to do a better job of keeping the regulator where i want it, and also because it will hold the regulator in my mouth pretty securely if I pull the bungie back behind my head. The behind-the-head thing is mentioned in one of the DIR videos as a response to oxtox symptoms, just to give a slightly better chance if it progresses to a seizure. I remembered and tried this once while seasick underwater, and it worked -- helped keep the reg in my mouth during the worst of the hurling spasms. - Todd -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
