Subject: Re: Question about MOD regarding tank marking
Cc: techdiver@aquanaut.com
When is it absolutely critical that the MOD be clear to all? During
a gas switch. Is the bottle going to be upside-down then? No, it's
going to be clipped off on your left side, with the writing in the
correct orientation. At important moments like this during the dive,
team members shouldn't be screwing around swimming upside down, so
who needs the clarification on bottle orientation? Nobody.

So, if it's not necessary, don't include it. Keep the information to
a minimum so your minds can process it fastest and surest.

The best argument for including extra stuff is that "it's no big deal",
which really isn't good enough.
