I just received the last issue of Scuba Times. There is an advertisement for the new Uwatec Aladin Air-X computer. Gee! What a tow!!! It is an air integrated computer using radio transmission from the first stage to the wrist module. The algorithm is the Buhlmann ZH-L8ADT. It takes into account the speed of ascent (which is variable), the skin temperature, the work load and of course, the depth and time. The speed of ascent varies from 180 feet per minute to 20 feet per minute depending on depth. This computer can store 37 dives and 200 minutes of detailed dive time (20 seconds interval). The PC software may display a bunch of information for any minute in the dive. Does anyone know more about this toy? What is the ZH-L8ADT algorithm? When was it created and how was it tested? Is the computer reliable in very cold water (here, we dive in water at 28 degrees F. or -2 degrees C.)? What is the battery life? Can we change the battery ourselve? What are the computer limits? And all the other usual questions.... Michel MTHERRIEN@sh*.mo*.mm*.sh*.co*
