Robertt: << Everybody has his own way, you like to compare with the military a lot >> Help, I think I am going to go nuts here :-) No, I do not like to compare with the military a lot. The only reason this ever came up was because of a statement posed by Dan to another member. Somewhere Dan is probably smiling because I am the one getting all the grief over this now. Personally, though the military analogy can be quite germane at times, to compare everything to it would be somewhat myopic in my opinion. The fields of endeavour are quite polar in their objectives, and neither could co-exist very long with each others sets of rules and protocol. << I am not a General a Seal a WKPP-member or even a certified Trimix-diver. I'm just a sportsdiver and I've learned a lot from this list >> Personally, I like George Irvine. Pioneers like him who have the moxie to go into uncharted territory remind me of explorers like Lindbergh, Earhart, and Livingstone. If George lives to beat the numbers game involved in dangerous ventures like this, his life may remain a model for other generations of undersea explorers; which is something we can all applaud. However, what I don't applaud and mince few words over is the importance of being a gentleman in your field. Accomplish what you will, but if you leave this world with half the people despising you, than you have not really accomplished very much at all. All that will be left is for biographers to figure out how to gloss over the embarrassing little details and still present a credible tale of your life. That's not a very good legacy to leave behind.
