Robbert: Let me repeat myself again, and hopefully this will suffice a final time. The way one manages his staff in the field and the way one conducts himself in the public eye are two different matters. There is a time and a place for decisive control, and there is a time and a place for courteous statesmanship. The scenario you (and others) describe with drill-instructors is a familiar one, but it is only half the picture. One may do what one will behind barrack doors (or Wakulla dive sites), but once you stand before the public eye a different set of skills are required.
