Tod, The beyond the pale idocy rampant in the so called "technical diving" field is usually promoted by individuals with self efffacing and congenial dispositions. Many of these people who have been the subject of our public admonishments and strident criticisms would otherwise be considered "nice guys" if you met them at at a church social or a coffee house. I can specifically list to you numerous causes of death which were a direct result of following the pronouncements of these very same "nice guys". For that matter, Hannibal Lector was a nice guy, until he started up with the fava beans and the chianti and gnawed your face off. How soon you forget about the dead people. How soon you forget about how easy it is to get killed practicing this stuff. What about the six people killed on the Inspiration over the last two years? What about all of the poor dead people whose last ride was on a boat named the Seeker? Do you think that their relatives have forgotten about this tragedy? Do think that they would have been offended if someone like George got in their face and got their their attention long enough to have chosen the sensible option? You may think that the WKPP is just bs. That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But let me tell you that we are all alive today because George got in our face and enforced rational, sensible judgement derived from the most basic of common sense principles. He got our attention, maybe in the same fashion that a bad traffic accident gets your full frontal attention, and we put aside our little hurt feelings and got on with doing things right. There is no room for such maudlin crap in situations where a slight miscalculation can spell instant death. There is nothing polite about death and if you are this thin skinned and don't get the underlying message then you need to be pursuing a more polite hobby like golf, coin collecting or as a professional etiquette instructor.
