In my experience there is only one scooter for all around N.E, wreck diving
and that is an Apollo / dacor. We rent them year round and you'll see our
scooters on many of the dive boats off N.J.. Now before everyone starts
screaming prejudice we also have predators, a Gavin and had teknas and makos
all decent scooters in their own right. You'll get 45 minutes of burn time
at w.o.t. since it takes about 5 minutes on the surface to change a battery
it's not a problem, although not something you can easily do with any of the
others. They are officially rated to 165 however even Apollo admits 400 ft
is not a problem. For digging, a popular pass time, an apollos clutch/
blades are very good. In short in a year rental with four scooter we have
never done anything to them except I had to fix a wire on one of the
chargers. A record that to me is unbeatable.
