>ya, I agree, wrist is not the best location.  plus it could get hung up on
harness if you needed >to ditch gear in or under water.  But digging a small
compass out of a pocket with numb >hands and heavy gloves can be tricky
also.

I have d rings in my pockets to which I clip everything.  If necessary, I
can pull everything out, select what I want and put the rest back.  Because
they're all clipped off, I'm not going to lose anything.
