James, "Hogarthian" is a term used to describe the original diving equipment configuration developed by William Hogarth Main and later refined by the Woodville Karst Plain Project. DIR, which stands for Doing it Right, is a term often applied to the current state of the gear configuration, but goes further. DIR is more than just a particular gear configuration, although this is the most essential part. DIR is also a combination of attitude, knowledge, discipline, and survival capability. The DIR gear config makes it easy to develop the other (essential) parts, which are together a philosophy for maximizing diving safety. See "Doing it Right II". -Sean On Tue, 27 Apr 1999 11:40:08 +1000, James Dibbs wrote: >List, > >What is the difference between DIR and Hogarthian? > >James Dibbs >Email: jdibbs@ma*.co*.au* > >-- >Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. >Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'. > -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
