I am looking at buying a 7 foot hose as part of a gradual evolution from a standard, PADI approved ( :-) ) recreational setup to a more technical rig based in DIR standards. It was recommended by a tech diving friend (who does _not_ DIR, and is quite happy to not do so) that the hose be 1/2 inch diameter, instead of the standard 3/8. His complaint with 3/8 is that it is harder to breath due to the extra turbulence that a long hose adds, and that a 1/2 inch hose, with it's larger diameter would have less turbulence. This seems to make sense. Does anyone have any contrary thoughts, and has anyone tried both and have a definitive answer? -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + grnbrg@cc*.um*.ca* + NETDOC Developer, Libraries Electronic + + PGP public key available. + Technologies and Services + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + 83% of all statistics are made up. + -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
