grant- forget the technical bs about how effective argon is. rent or borrow a set up- try it for a few dives. if you feel it works then get your own if not then look fro something else. personally i think it works fine. but i also think some of it is a psych job. but it works for me so whatever the reason who cares, i'm warmer & can dive longer because of it. hank i In a message dated 1/21/1999 5:02:35 PM Pacific Standard Time, grantw@fr*.ca*.ca* writes: << ubj: Re: Want to be warmer. From what I've read so far, and it's not much, the difference between the conductivity of air and argon is not enough to scientifically distinguish between the two. It's a completely different story when the choice is between helium mixes and argon, as the helium sucks the heat right out of you. I haven't read anything on this list about this subject, so if it's been here, I've missed it. However, since, in answering Tom's post, you seem to be saying that argon is the only way to go, and that it is much superior, even if he is diving air, I am thinking that you have some info on this that refutes the little that I've read. >> -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
