mike, you make a very sound point, however you must recall how no one believed that after 8 years(i think that was the #) the arkies & there government cronnies found this woman who missrepresented herself & devided up the dive comunity, & got the shipwreck act passed. now that they find that this is not enough they are trying to control each & every wreck site that "they" want to. you may be right - they may not be able to watch all but they will certainly have the law on there side if we stand by & do nothing to stop them. it will only be a matter of time before they decide that the local wreck you like to dive is "important" enough for them to take an interest in. you know of course that this will mean the virtual end to the descovery & recovery of any of the "treasure ships"; this being there real goal. they are in fact only interested in the money wrecks, & will seek to hide that fact by screwing everyone in the process. hank In a message dated 2/4/1999 8:17:26 AM Pacific Standard Time, aocfishman@ho*.co* writes: << t is my understanding that the proposed law encompasses the recovery of artifacts, not necessarily the visitation of such sites. In any case, the powers that be have no clue about the ramifications that this Bill would have (such as enforcement). It would be basically status quo as the resources to patrol the tens of thousands of wrecks that exist off our coasts DOES NOT EXIST. Hell, they can't even prevent pillaging of the USS Monitor on NOAA observed trips... Michael C.
