Abrasive pellets, not beads, are the right things to use, but I've been using peastone gathered up from my driveway and screened through hardware cloth with good rsults for years. My tumbler has a 1725 1/4" horse motor and a belt drive, but you can get fairly cheap surplus gearmotors that make a neater setup, and I've seen them built with old rotisserie motors and the like. Very handy thing to have, so you don't have to argue with dive shop idiots who think any rust requires tumbling which requires hydro, and turn a routine visual into a $60 bill. >Can anyone share with me what they have used to make a tank tumbler. I >have looked at some motors and they all seem quite expensive. Also the >type of glass beads which should be used and sources for the above. >Thanks in advance.
