Subject: Re: Diving and sex of children
From: dmdalton@ju*.co* (Dave Dalton)
During WWII the saying was "All good pilots have girls." My father a very
good
B-24 bomber pilot and my mother had their first child in 1943, my older
(and only) sister. After leaving the service, my father and mother had
me, followed by three more boys. IT MUST BE TRUE!!!!!

In the 1960's I read an article that, "claimed" to be based on an obscure
scientific study, which stated that men who worked in high risk jobs or
participated in "risk excercise" recreational activities fathered a
higher percentage of girls.

Staying true to this urban legend, in 1976 my wife and I had our first
child and our only girl. 1980 saw the birth of our second child, a boy
and 1983 saw the birth of our third, another boy. By then I had figured
out what caused them and that put an end to that!

During all of that time my occupation was the same - Special Agent for a
Federal Government Agency. Recreational activites - were all "risk
exercise" sports - Chinese Boxing, motorcyle riding/racing, scuba diving,
shooting. I continued to believe the myth even though I couldn't explain
why I had two boys!

About two years ago I read another article which was extensively
documented by numerous medical journal references, US and foreign, which
came to the conclusion that their was no scientific basis for this claim.
This made me feel much better and I decided not to put the boys up for
adoption!

Based on that I believe the whole thing is nothing more than an urban
legend, but a fun one, none the less, and a great one to argue about!
