Subject: Re: Diver charged for looting the Empress
garrett,
i appologize for taking this public i guess i'm used to these conversations
being on he list.
however i did quote you correctly - coppies everything you said.
it's interesting that you don't want to discuss the Monitor, since it directly
applies to your comments.
the divers that i know would be happy to place there artifacts on public
display & there are obviously thousands of people intersted in seeing them.
example of that is the demonstrations at most of the dive show around the
country.
take a look at the books that have been printed about the wreaks in different
areas,
most of them have artifacts displayed in them- do you think the people that
see them there have the ability or the desire to see them in water.

the museums have taken a stand out of pure selfeshness & political pressure to
not accept artifacts from divers.

as far as the Edmond Fitz is concerned even if you are one of the few divers
capable of diving it (which i question since i don't know you) how many
thousands of other divers are missing out on getting an oportunity to see the
bell in the water?
not many i think.

i don't appreciate the name calling & i try not to respond in kind but you
obviously miss the point of the artifact "hunter".
