CuteEve and Kee Karoo1 (are these guys/gals/things for real ??) seem to forget that DIR is more than just an equipment configuration. It is, in my opinion, a state of mind, a whole set of rules geared towards making (technical) diving as safe as it can be. Gear config is only a (albeit major) part of it. Getting the right education , experience and self-discipline are all just as important as the gear configuration.
