Who are you calling a loony extremist here? ;-) Look, its really very simple; when you go diving you only take along what you REALLY NEED. I don't NEED 100 lbs lift wings, so I take a 45 pounder. I don't NEED bungees, so I go without them, the wing folds nicely up to the bottles when empty and does NOT create any drag at all. I don't NEED quick releases, so I have a harness made from one continuous strap. I don't NEED twenty D-rings, so I only have 3. One at each shoulder and one at the left waist . I don't NEED 2 bladders since I always dive dry, so I have a single bladder. Whatever you decide, don't let yourself be influenced by looks or fancy ads. It's functionality that counts, and what you can count on. rgrds Adri Haine vpg@li*.ne* wrote: >Hello everyone again, > >Well thankyou all for your comments, its been very interesting to say >the >least. > >I seriously doubt if I would go for OMS bungee wings due to the seeds >of >doubt sewn but I must admit Im not TOTALLY convinced of all the >arguments. 1. I question how often any BC suffers a major puncture that even with bungee cords would lead to total loss of buoyancy in the dramatic way portrayed. 2. If you go by the system advocated and believe that a second or dual bladder is not needed because your drysuit is your backup, then rather than lie helpless on the ocean floor with stuporwings, you could utilise your backup ie, the drysuit. In that respect your contradicting yourself with those arguments. 3. If the other argument is considered ie, the bungees create air pockets preventing proper expellation of air then we would not get this total dramatic loss of buoyancy? I also feel you let yourself down as a group by being so agressive and insulting. If you believe it is worth promoting your system ( you must or you would not waste time arguing on here ) then you should sell it to people who are genuinly interested, insults and arrogance only get in the way of the message. This approach that you have doesnt make you look smart or clever but gives the impression as though your just a bunch of loony extremists, which is a shame because questioning systems and products can only lead to safer diving. I believe much if not all of your ideas and points of view are sound principles, Ive learnt a lot from you and would thank you for that. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
