Hi to everyone.
My apologies for not introducing myself earlier, so here are the gory
details - please delete if you're not interested.
I've only been diving for 14 years and have advanced through the ranks at a
steady pace becoming an Instructor 10 years ago. Most of my diving has been
in Australia (mainly the State of Victoria, but with some diving trips to
every State except for the Northern Territory) with some holiday trips to
the Solomon Islands, Micronesia, Belau & Guam.
As with most people who have been diving for some time my diving interests
have varied over the years and have included: U/W Photography, Equipment,
Shipwrecks, Deep Diving and Cave Diving. I am currently a member of the Cave
Diving Section of the National Speleological Society in America (NSS-CDS)
and have a 'Penetration Diver' rating from the Cave Divers Association of
Australia (CDAA).
Being a member of a number of Instructor organisations I believe that it's
not necessarily a particular organisation that is better than another but
that it depends on the individual Instructor and their support material.
When teaching diving courses I tend to borrow ideas and information from
different sources to produce students that are aware of differing views and
can make a decision as to what is best for them. These students should also
be able to modify those decisions based on changing information.
I've had the misfortune to suffer from DCI (Decompression Illness) a number
of times and have a kean interest in Decompression Tables & Computers. When
diving I normally use a variety of Tables & Computers; decompressing for the
longest time and then doing extra on top of that.
