Carl Meilahn asks: >All this talk about IWR has gotten me thinking, I know the basic ideas >behind it, but I haven't really read up much on it. Probably because it's >so taboo in the recreational world, and even some in the tech world. >Anyway, I've read what's in "Mixed Gas Diving," but I haven't been able to >find any other references, could you all please post me some info about >books, etc. where I can look to find more about IWR? You can find details on the so called 'Australian Underwater Oxygen Table' in 'Diving and Subaqatic Medicine' by Edmonds, Lowry & Pennefather. The second edition is ISBN 0 959 5031 0 2 and the new third edition is ISBN 0 7506 0259 7 published by Butterworth-Heinemann. I don't know who distributes it in the US. This Oxygen treatment table uses pure oxygen in 9 metres or less and can take from 2 to 3 hours depending on the severity of the case. Any of the standard recompression treatments could also be used in water, (as per US Navy Manual) though I doubt you would get anyone to drop to 18 metres breathing pure oxygen without proper backup. If people are interested I could post an extract of the 'Australian U/W O2 table' to save you chasing the book up. Hope this has been of some help. ------------------------------------------------------- Zyg Poliniak | Phone: 61-3-252-3072 (B/H) | Fax: 61-3-252-7390 (B/H) Melbourne | Email: <zyg@ac*.ne*.au*> Australia | Email: <100353.1605@co*.co*>
