Guess what...with the Dereck McKnulty scenario, the instructor DOES NOT say what he is supposed to say, and DOES NOT do what he is supposed to do. Mike, there ARE some Really BAD instructors out there, along with the very good ones you expect each new diver will automatically hook up with. The new divers will NOT be able to tell the McKulties from the Jablonski's, because they know nothing about technical diving. Guys like Derrick could talk the big talk, and that gave them a compelling sales presence. This is the issue we are really argueing about---and where you and Al are not communicating on either. If you have a really bad instructor, a student with 20 years of mainstream instructional conditioning, will do exactly as told. That's the Amemrican consumer, as sad a statement as it is. If you don't like it, just where do you plan on finding a better home for your ideologies?
