Ya know, its amazing.....frigging Hurricane blows me out, I have to go have 'fun' at Brunch and Chamber music thing, come home, rattle off a post about what I perceive as perception problems in diving today.....no where, no where in this post do I state that DIR is wrong or that so and so is a better way to go.....I simply disagree that instuctors and gear are what create good divers....I think other equally important things go into the mix...... But all these DIRers are jumpin up n down n yellin n hollerin n carryin on n...(anybody remember Arlo Guthries thing in Alices Rest? at the draft office).......what does DIR also stand for Don't Indulge in Reading all the way through???? Anyway, I'm real glad for you guys up in Sweden, that you are so happy in that insanely cold water, I just don't understand why you don't move to a better place..... 'sides, Trout says you all are tougher than wolf pussy.....I guess thats pretty tough, is it tough? I don't know, how do you know, Trout? I remember Berman stories and I don't recall the punch line being about "our asses being kicked". I did not mean for anyone to assume that DIR was in any way geographically challenged....thats pretty funny though, rather that Irvine and Co. persistantly knock the boats and what they do up here without ever having been here and seen what happens, what the boats have to cope with, llike a lot of half baked DIR conceptualizations ....right, we all know if its half baked it can't be DIR, but the fact remains that these people are here and diving and need to be worked with and encouraged to be safe and grow into capable divers....... Anyway, nor do I recall anywhere in any of the posts, trying to kick anyones ass...I don't think that that my-brass-balls-are-bigger-than-yours-mentality leads to safe diving..... Why is it that instead of responding to points made, you DIRers have to go into physical insults? is this one of the side effects of all that gas? or just overcompensation? I'm real happy for all you people who have seen the DIR llight, bless you one and all, but there are still way too many people out there who are mistakenly making the assumption that this gear will make me superaquadude, that with this gear and these cards I can do anything....and it aint so...... You guys are really good at publishing what you do and the gear configs that got you there, but maybe you ought to work on publlishing the other things that got you there.....like lots o time, lots o effort, both physical and mental......well, maybe for some of you, not so much mental..... -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
