kevin read what i sent to wrolf - it applies to you to- wrolf first of all i never said i thought that there should be a web site "marking" an instructor as good or bad. there are to many people on this list with preconcieved notions as to who they would like to eradicate from the spot (justified or not). you know the dive industry is a money making SERVICE business. shops that don't provide good service go out of business- shops that don't provide good instructors get a bad name for themselves & loose bisiness. instructors that have no ability are "discovered" don't get to fill there classes anymore. slaes is kind of a self clensing organism -all by itself. i am a parnoid person & don't like the thought that someone is going to deside for mr who or how things should be. including (with your good intentions) you! hank In a message dated 8/31/98 9:19:35 AM Pacific Daylight Time, Kevin@So*.co* writes: << Subj: Re: A Call to Arms Date: 8/31/98 9:19:35 AM Pacific Daylight Time From: Kevin@So*.co* (Kevin Rottner) To: GarlooEnt@ao*.co* CC: techdiver@aquanaut.com >kevin >you & steve are absolutely right & one of the tools to fighting ignorance is >the exposure that it gets on this list. Dear Hank: I think one of the best things this list could ever do would be to go into hardcore INSTROKETER-BUSTER mode. But in reality, how many of the people that need this information even know of the list, let alone subscribe, let alone read. I would really like to see a website devoted to both WHO is good and WHO is bad. Honest comments, reports, activities of who's out there and teaching more advanced diving. But its a start. How can I help ? Will someone help me set-up a website or webpage somewhere that we all can update ?? Like I said, technical deaths while on training dives is simply inexcusable at best and murder at worst. And each one causes the governments at the city, county, state and federal level to look towards regulation, each one causes insurance companies ( some that probably moniter this list ) to either raise rates or refuse to insure agencies, boats, instructors, manufacturors that are involved in technical diving products and services and charters.
