Maggie >My questions are: >(1) If I use an extra buckle to hold the light in place, how should I >thread the buckle, and which way should it close (towards the light, or >away from the light)? If you use an extra buckle, it should be orientated in the same direction as your waist strap buckle i.e. jaws next to the light. This will allow you to remove it more easily should you wish to drop your light. On one dive boat we dive from, we have the luxury of being able to remove our back gas in-water and have it winched up. The second buckle ensures the light is not lost. If you do not remove your kit then the need for a second buckle is somewhat reduced. For consistency, I always dive with the second buckle whether we winch up the kit or not. >(2) Is it better to use something other than a buckle, and if so what? Use a buckle.
