Duh. I am trying to de-strokify my equipment. I made big progress by getting a halcyon backplate & harness and tried it out for the first time yesterday. I was really happy to discover that it actually *is* comfortable, and seems to create much less drag than my Transpac. As instructed by the various gear rigging pages I've looked at, I put my light (Dive Rite Massive Leaking System) on my right side, as far back as I could get it. I removed the plastic waist buckle from my Transpac and threaded it all the way over by the light to hold it in place. That worked semi-ok. My questions are: (1) If I use an extra buckle to hold the light in place, how should I thread the buckle, and which way should it close (towards the light, or away from the light)? (2) Is it better to use something other than a buckle, and if so what? Thanks, all for your patience. I am catching on, albeit slowly.
