Bill -- Thanks for the clarification. Ray laT said (about 8 times) that *she* was turned away from the GD as stated in his post: >Are you aware that she was turned away from diving on the "GreatFull >Diver" That's a big difference. I did exactly what I have admonished others not to do: made the mistake of taking at face value something erroneous and inaccurate published on the lists. I apologize for accepting bad information and basing my following questions on same. The GD is, for good reason, the most reputable operation in S. FL. Not only have we have seen how they come thru when the shit hits the fan, but they show true leadership in the first place. R. laT's "information" made them appear to be uncharacteristically cold-hearted and that's why I reacted with more questions. Turning *her instructor* away and refusing to take a deep air course out on the boat is in keeping with their wise/high standards. They did all they could in the circumstances, acting responsibly. For some time, I have looked forward to one day meeting Mr. Kalayci, to thank him personally for risking himself in the recovery of a dear friend in the Bahamas. Now I include an apology. Again, I am very sorry for any misconceptions I participated in. And although I did so unwittingly, I realize that is no excuse. Thanks for this important clarification, Bill. By way of background, I lost two friends several years ago when they died together on a dive. Since both had the "cotton in", our local diving community rejected them. The result was that they found each other and formed a deadly "team." I tried to work with one, rather than reject him too and leave him to his own devices, in order to head off disaster. But he went there anyway. Ever since, I have felt strongly that it is extremely important to take more care, rather than less care of -- draw in rather than reject -- those who apparently need help.
