By way of introduction, I'd like to say that I've been reading the
techdiver and cavers lists for some time, and have found lots of great
information here. I'm a Northeast wreck diver busy trying to de-strokify my
gear.

I've been reading up on stage bottle rigging on the pages linked to the
WKPP site and the recent threads in this list. The diagram and pictures on
Jeff Bently's "Stage Bottle for a Hogarthian Rig" were especially helpful
and I'm going to rig my new stage bottle as shown.

Could someone please explain why is it necessary to put an innertube behind
the hose clamp?
