Nope. See http://www.concentric.net/~Wrolf/index.shtml#techdiver, that should give you an idea of the real problem, as I see it. Yes, when you insulted me as your very first post to me, back when you were a baby net.diver, you certainly got me mad, and have kept me mad ever since. See http://www.aquanaut.com/bin/mlist/aquanaut/techdiver/subject?acceptable+ppo2s. Yes I felt (and feel) angry at all the techdiver members who could not put up with your potty mouth. Not only the lurkers, who's first message is there last ("I'm outta here, you foul mouthed bunch of wankers"). But the divers that I know, or have met, who told me that they tried it for a while, and all they saw was uninformative ravings. But it isn't about that. After all, I have been insulted by professionals - George doesn't really count. What counts for me is the suppression of free speech caused by George's potty mouth, harassment, lies, and overbearing manner. And at what cost? For all I know, I would be down at Harvey's store hanging out with him this afternoon, if he had been able to read in techdiver, from his peers, about the (WKPP?) practice of turning off your deco gas valve, until use. Or perhaps we would all be hearing from him about the time that he had one of the QE2 captains that he had been hanging out with on the cruise back from England, on the dive boat over the wreck of the Oregon - an occasion of some historical significance. This is not about who has made the most dives. This is not about who is a key part of a fantastic underwater exploration team. This is not about diving exploits. Its about being a civilized human being, with the ability to engage in effective discourse. Your potty mouth; your ad hominem attacks; your lies, deceits, and trickery completely wipe out your message. They also do collateral damage the messages of all of the other posters and readers in these forums. By SHOUTING louder than everyone else, you are suppressing their free speech. I think the best idea would be for you to leave the techdiver forum, since it is so full of us strokes, and start your own. There are now even free services like www.listbot.com for this. I assume that there are also commercial free services, plus any decent Unix/Linux admin should now how to get started (majordomo or listserv, plus MHonArc for archiving, seem to be the best choices.) This would give you the opportunity to say what you want, to the people who want to hear. If you want, you can also decide to moderate who can join your list (I can think of at least one who might not be invited). Or you can even moderate what messages are broadcast (though this is a lot of work). I'll even put a pointer to it on my site.
