Anyone who Cares, We have to look at the big picture here... in just a short period of time, 3 divers have died on the Doria. This past year, alone technical diving related deaths are on the rise. We have to ask ourselves, just what the hell is going wrong. For whatever reason, divers are dying left, right, and center. These people, who had real lives.. And now their F*CKEN DEAD. Wake up people... The boat captains offer a service, nothing more. Takes you out to the site, waits around, takes you back to shore... and oh yeah, has a few safety devices on board. If he screws up with that simple little task, like hitting a shoal cause he's hammered and getting me into trouble, I'll then consider sueing his ass to the wall. It's time that the dive community stopped trying to lay blame and take some RESPONSIBILITY. Unless someone cut this guys hp hose and drowned him on purpose, the only one to blame hre is the diver himself. He screwed up.. But WHY did he screw up.. That is the question we need to answer. It's time SH*T learned how to roll up hill.. It wasn't the 'bondage wings' with steel tanks, it wasn't that 50/50 mix with no MOD markings that killed this guy. It was because he didn't KNOW any better. BTW, where the hell did people learn to rig their bottom tanks as stages. This is so screwed up, you might as well put your harness on backwards or upside down, with stages on your phreaking shoulders. While their at it, they should put on the dry suit inside/out.. Thats how stupid a rig with bt gas mounted as stages should look to everyone, even the divers fresh out of 'techie' school.. Bells and whistles are going off, can't you hear them?? Training standards need to be increased.. We need to do away with the crap that's getting thrown around, and hold someone responsible. There are people who are taking on more risk in their diving, but fail to aquire the more training Divers are coming out of extreme diving courses, and not having the basic skills that will keep them alive.. Not KNOWING what should get a check mark and other things an x... Not untill training agencies and extreme divers/explorers take their head out of their ass, will we be able to make some attempt to stop the flow of deaths. And as technical diving gets more popular, the problem will only get worse. ONE complete set of training standards need to be hammered out by those who are in control. Till then, we should start a flower fund to be donated to the family of the next diver who dies.. And we could all sign the card : " We are sorry for your loss. We knew there were ways how this could have been prevented, but were to stupid to teach them. " And for those of you who will take this as a personal attack, spare me the drivel and just add my address to your filter.
