JT I dive wrecks out of New York, all four seasons, so I say cold is 45 degrees or colder. I would factor in surface conditions as well. If your diving wet with aluminum tanks I would see no significant problem with a bounce dive of say twenty five minutes or less- total run time- to a depth that would incur this type of cold, if your surface temps are warm enough that you will rewarm during the SIT. Say 75 degrees or better on the surface, without significant wind chill, ie summer. I have dove wet repetively in Feburary, that is asking for trouble from an exposure standpoint as well as from a DCI standpoint and I dont do that anymore. The thing is you have to consider all the factors in deciding what gear to wear. A deep long exposure will require more gas and mean more time in the water, so more potential for getting cold. This means its better to use a drysuit, which is a better match for the big steel tanks you will wind up using, and keeps you warm.
