About three years ago I argued with Jammer. Now I know he's right. I have NEVER dived a mix I haven't personally analysed. Other than air. I have never relied on a label or a sticker. A buddy I dived with used to let me fill and test his gas and deliver his cylinders to the carpark where we kitted up for the boat. I did it for him because I trust me. But I never allowed him to return the favour. My sling cylinders have nitrox stickers on them because they sometimes go into hire or lay around the dive shop and I only want them filled from the nitrox panel. They have tags on them that *I* write the date, mix and depth on - so I can check up on myself. They also have MOD on a big piece of tape that sits a foot from my face when I'm wearing 'em. My back cylinders are unmarked. I can't see anyone climbing into that rig accidentally or presuming it contains only air. *I* write the mix and date on a little piece of tape stuck to one of the cylinders so I can double check it myself. Yep. Jammer's right. You need more than a label to tell you what's in a cylinder. Here's a concept: The only gas I take on trust is air - which comes in unmarked, unidentified cylinders. bless you all the way & rgrds billyw > >The tanks you guys are speaking of were certainly not the only un-marked >tanks in the world, according to all your "standards", my tanks are >unmarked, and will remain so. > >Counting my buddy, we now have at least 3 separate sets of tanks that are >known to be unmarked (by any agency "standards"), separated by a >continent. > >I don't count on labels, because at least 3 chambers of this gun are >loaded. > >You go ahead, though, and keep barking.
