The early Aluminum cylinders were the low pressure (2,475 psi) Floaters.
These were followed by a high pressure aluminum cylinder (3,000 psi) that was
slightly taller and the same diameter as a steel 72. These aluminum 72s will
have a 11 in the cheveron over the US Divers logo. they were called series 2
cylinders, and they were only in production for a couple of years (70 & 71 I
think) just prior to the introduction of the Professional Cylinder
(Professional was located in the cheveron) which are now known as our current
aluminum 80s.
I had a pair set up as doubles about 10 or 12 years ago they worked fine and I
had no problems with bouyancy, I did however generally carry a pony on top
which would add some weight.
