It sound like to me that you do not have enough information to develop any option or justify your statements -- see other post Re: Andrea Doria Death. All you have is here-say information, no substantiated facts, what are the facts? Let's get the facts and act or make statement on facts -- not all the here-say that is floating about, I think I heard, here another stroke. This is our sport. Let us get the info and data, check it, verify it, then discuss it and find ways to correct. -----Original Message----- From: Raimo4252@ao*.co* [mailto:Raimo4252@ao*.co*] Sent: Friday, July 03, 1998 8:10 AM To: kirvine@sa*.ne*; techdiver@aquanaut.com; cavers@ca*.co* Subject: Re: Wreck Death This is second hand info on the Doria Death: The death occurred off of the Dive boat Seeker. A diver, tri-mix certified (wy whom and what agency I do not know as of yet), attempted to go into the kitchen area of the Doria to recover artifacts. Supposedly the diver got lost, found his way out (still toting his artifacts!) attempted to send an upline to the surface (I do not know what type or method), the line broke, and then the diver himself surfaced not breathing. CPR continued for 1 1/2 hours until the coast guard arrived and removed the diver. His Tri-mix tanks, doubles of size unkown to me, were empty. I do not know what other tanks/gases etc. the diver had, or if they had gas in them. I do not know what type of equipment he was diving. I do not know what % of mix he was using. Supposedly this was the divers second trip to the Doria. I do not know what type of training and experience the diver had. This sounds like lack of experience and training to me, and a decision by an in-experienced Doria diver going into the wreck where he does not belong. It's time the agencies start weeding out their incompetent instructors - there are too many out there that don't give a shit about diving.
